Hi, to Mario and all others-
Can any-one definitively state wether or not it is reasonably arguable that J H LYNCH has or has not been dead for fifty years?
regards
Ken Miers

Well, as long as one accepts the dates that are written next to the signature on some of JH Lynch's paintings as real, we can say for sure that he must have lived at least until the year 1964. Which would make it 40 years. But then we have the "Lynch's girls" calendar from 1980 which shows girls that are styled in a late 70s fashion. If you give some time for production of the works we can guess that he must have lived at least until 1978 I'd say.
Another approach would be to guess how old he probably was when he painted Tina, Woodland Goddess and his other works that we know from the sixities. I'd say a rough estimation is that he would have been between 25 and 35 in the year 1961. Which means that 43 years later he would be between 66 and 76 years old. Taking in accound the average life expectancy of men this would fit well to the story of Juliet

who said that a supposed nephew of JH Lynch told her in 1997 that his uncle had died a few years previously.

hi, if JHL died circa 1990 - 95 i presume , can anyone search thru death certificates and records for J H Lynch`s? I tried to read the article referring to his death via the nephew but it wouldnt open. I dont know his nationality but for some reason I just feel he`s British. I once saw his name on a website as John. Anybody got any other ideas about how to trace his birth/marriage/death details?

In that case I think it would be most promising to start searching in Harlow, Essex (this is where the episode with the supposed nephew took place) - maybe this link might help: http://www.essexcc.gov.uk/vip8/ecc/ECCWebsite/display/guides/bmd_death_registration_guide_483836_BirthsMarriagesAndDeaths/contacts/index.jsp
Anybody interested in contacting those adresses?

hi mario. the link above is inactive, this is the one to go to, i think. Also libraries have BMD records, at least here in NZ they do.
go to www.essexcc.gov.uk/vip8/ecc/ECCWebsite/display/channels/births_marriages_deaths_channel_640771_Living/index.jsp
Also maybe a bit of reaearch to the newspaper to enquire about the photographer and who he was.

I also see there is info on this site about family history, census records for a J H L may exist with occupation as artist, if not on this site then elsewheres who knows!

Could someone check the electoral rolls in the mid - late 60`s for JHL, occupation artist? It may be alot of fruitless work but something may come of it.
